Limestone Coast Family Holidays
The adventure coast
Discover a fascinating part of Australia on a Limestone Coast driving holiday.
There’s plenty to keep the kids entertained. They’ll learn a lot too, because there are plenty of fun things to experience.
Have you ever seen a white kangaroo? What about a lobster taller than a building? A lake that changes colour with the seasons? A Land Rover on a pole? They're all on the Limestone Coast, where your family will love its holiday.
Natural wonders
The Limestone Coast is like a huge science and history lesson, everyone will enjoy it.
The Pool of Siloam near Beachport is just one extraordinary Limestone Coast attraction. It’s seven times saltier than the sea, so even if you can’t swim, you’ll float!
There’s a petrified forest to explore in Port MacDonnell and a maze of stunning, underground caves in Naracoorte. Nestled in the crater of a dormant volcano is Mount Gambier's fascinating Blue Lake. The colour of the water depends on the time of year.
Take a history break
Wherever you stop there are reminders of the Limestone Coast’s proud history. Millicent has a National Trust museum and there’s a maritime museum in Port MacDonnell. The Sheep's Back in Naracoorte is full of the sights and smells of the shearing shed. Then “take a break” in Bordertown’s original jail cells!
Go wild
The Bordertown Wildlife Park has some really interesting residents, the only known captive colony of white kangaroos. After dark, feed the hungry possums at the Umpherston Sinkhole, also known as The Sunken Garden.
Meet Larry
Australia has long list of “big things”, from pineapples to guitars. In Kingston South East, cross another one off your list. Larry “the Big Lobster” is 17 metres (56 feet) tall and weighs around four tonnes (nearly 9000 pounds). He’s easily the world’s most photographed lobster.
The Limestone Coast, great family fun.
